The Annual Provincial Officer’s Dinner was held once again at the Commodore Hotel, Sand Bay, Weston-super-Mare, on Friday 2nd June. E Comp Bob Moore once again organised the evening assisted by his wife Val.
The companions and wives/partners struggled through the Friday night traffic with E Comp Alan Holton and his wife taking four hours to get there from Tiverton, others had similar journeys. Once gathered there was a general “get to know you” before sitting down for dinner. The tables were arranged so that a member of the Executive was on each table and a mixture of Officers filling each table.
Once E Comp David Parslow, Prov Haggai, gave Grace all sat and had a very enjoyable meal. After the dinner and the loyal toast, E Comp Alan Holton, DepGS, proposed the toast to E Comp John Bennett, MEGS, thanking him and his wife Jennie for all the hard work they do in making this Province so great and friendly. E Comp John then responded in his usual manner greeting the new Provincial Team and their other halves.
E Comp Tony Beaumont then rose to thank E Comp Alan Holton for all the assistance and advice he had given him regarding Tony’s office of Provincial Scribe E. He then presented Alan with a fine bottle of Scotch in appreciation for his assistance.
Everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves and become acquainted with their Provincial Team colleagues then wended their way home through a good deal less traffic.
