You will note that with one or two exceptions, the active officers are the same as last year. The rationale behind that decision is that for obvious reasons those officers have not thus far been able to fulfil any of their Provincial duties, and therefore it is only right to give them a chance to do so in the next 12 months. This was only the second occasion that Bob had given this fascinating talk. Most members would be forgiven for not knowing that there ever were tracing boards in chapters because they have fallen into disuse and the only board surviving in Somerset is in Taunton so it is something that Chapter members are not familiar with.

The basis of the current Royal Arch ceremonies worked in England was established and agreed by Supreme Grand Chapter in 1834. There is some evidence that before those changes the ceremony of Passing the Veils was practised as a preliminary to the Exaltation ceremony. This was particularly true in Lodges under the former Antients Grand Lodge which worked the Royal Arch ceremony within the Craft Lodge, but there is little evidence of it being worked in Chapters under the original Excellent Grand and Royal Chapter.
