MEGS acts as guest Z at September meeting of Avalon …… and comes up with a surprise

Our MEGS attended the September meeting (as an Honorary Member of the Chapter), having volunteered to step in for our Z – Excellent Companion Charles Grisdale – and carried out the ceremony of Exaltation with all our regular officers in their places. The exaltee was the WM of Pilgrims Lodge (Number 772), who felt honoured to have been at the receiving end on such a special occasion.

But more was to come … on the second and third risings, to everyone’s surprise and delight, E Comp Bennett presented the Chapter with a Holy Royal Arch Tracing Board together with an explanation of why he had commissioned it and when it should be used. He suggested that if, in future, there was an occasion where we were lacking a candidate, we should consider inviting a Provincial Ruler to attend and deliver the ritual associated with the Board. He further explained that the Board should be placed against the pedestal, facing the Three Principals when the Chapter was opened, and turned around on closing.

The MEGS explained that it was his intention to present each chapter with a Tracing Board, and Avalon feel very honoured to be one of the first Chapters in the Province to receive such a gift.
