Martin Slocombe

Provincial Grand Charity Steward

Born in Portishead and attended Bristol Cathedral School. A career in Sales and Marketing with Bristol United Press, Texaco, Alexandra and The Guild of Professional Estate Agents involved significant travel across the British Isles, Ireland and Holland. A warm welcome always received when visiting far away lodges and chapters. Now retired and living in Portishead with wife Wilma and son Jack.

Used to enjoy playing rugby, cricket and squash. Ran the London Marathon in 1982 and has the medal and photographs to prove it – time taken forgotten, but believed to be reasonable!

2014 saw Martin and three other brethren from Estune Lodge sail a Bavarian 38 from Bristol to the Algarve. Seemed a good idea at the time until the Bay of Biscay produced one of it’s big storms. It sorted the men from the boys and Martin admits to being one of the boys! Now enjoys watching the ships from the safety of his home in Redcliffe Bay, an occasional game of golf and daily walks with the dog, a boxer called Bella.
