Maldwyn Davies

 

2nd Provincial Grand Principal

2ndprinBorn in Taunton. Attended Bishops Lydeard Primary School then Huish Grammar School (now Richard Huish College), until leaving at the age of 16. First employment was in the office of a Building Contractor in Taunton. After getting married to Anne in 1971 he re-located to Surrey where he spent three years at a larger firm as initially Estimator then Small Works Manager. Returned to Taunton, when their oldest son Paul was one year old to re-join his first employer, appointed Director in 1983. Now a Director of a scaled down version of the original firm which is still trading .

Paul, his eldest son, works in I.T. in Derby. Matthew, their middle child, is in the Building Trade. Their youngest child, Gemma, is a Teacher. Anne and Maldwyn have two granddaughters, Izzi and Sophy.

Initiated into Richard Huish Lodge 8518 November 1983. After progressing through all the offices, except Tyler, was installed as W.M. in 1992. Subsequently has been Director of Ceremonies and is currently acting as Senior Deacon. Was Provincial Assistant Director of Ceremonies 1998, Past Provincial Senior Grand Deacon in 1999, Past Provincial Sword Bearer in 2005 and Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 2013.

Exalted into Taunton Deane Chapter 5221 in December 1987 and installed as 1st Principal in 1999. Founding Director of Ceremonies Chapter of Protection 9047 in 2007, meeting at Mark Masons’ Hall in London. A joining member of Somerset First Principals Chapter 3746,currently in office as Scribe Nehemiah.

In Provincial Grand Chapter was appointed Provincial Grand Steward 2001, Past Provincial Assistant Sojourner in 2002, Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2009 and 2nd Provincial Grand Principal in 2016.
