On the 11th March Malcolm Beard and I made the long trip up from East Devon to Midsomer Norton to attend Connaught Chapter’s Installation Meeting. Arriving from a totally different direction from those I’d travelled previously we took a random left turn on reaching the town centre. Almost immediately I spotted the church, so knew we were almost there. We parked up and entered the building with plenty of time to spare. We were readily greeted by members we hadn’t seen for a while. Connaught cordiality was still in free flow.
Gradually numbers steadily grew and soon the Chapter Officers made their way upstairs and opened the Chapter. E Comp Terry Hayes APrGDC was then admitted and announced the presence of the Grand Superintendent who demanded admission. He was processed into the Temple escorted by a number of Provincial Officers and warmly greeted by the MEZ, E Comp Neil Arthur. The Grand Superintendent, E Comp John Bennett, declined to accept the offered Sceptre and took a seat to the side of the main chairs. His escort then took their seats and the MEZ was able to continue the evening’s business. Amongst this there was a ballot for E Comp Ray Conneely as a re-joining member. There was no hesitation among the members of the Chapter in assenting to this. He was immediately brought into the Lodge and enthusiastically greeted by the MEZ and the Grand Superintendent.
