Principals Installed at Avalon – November 2022

The November Installation meeting (on 15th) was also unusual in that we were due to welcome the new MEGS Ray Guthrie, but owing to a train strike, the date of Supreme Grand Chapter in London had to be changed and it clashed with the date of our Installation meeting. E Comp Ray’s place was ably filled by the Third Provincial Grand Principal – E Comp Geoff Lester – accompanied by his DC – E Comp Ian Pickett.

The new Principals were installed – E Comp Fred Body as Z; E Comp Mark Caldwell as H; and Comp Tom Nutt as J, who then appointed and invested their officers.

Two long-serving officers retired – E Comp Keith Cobb (Treasurer) after 7 years, and E Comp Brian Crome (Scribe E) after 10 years, and were gratefully thanked by the Principals. E Comp Brian was also congratulated by the Third Provincial Grand Principal for completing sixty years in Craft Freemasonry.

The chapter was also delighted to be in a position to ballot for no less than three candidates for Exaltation, showing that Avalon is going from strength to strength.

At the festive board E Comp Geoff made a presentation to E Comp Keith Cobb who stood down as Treasurer after 7 years in that role and E Comp Brian Crome, who stood down after 10 years. Brian recently received his certificate celebrating 60 years in Masonry from the PGM at Pilgrims Lodge in Glastonbury.
