Chapter 3158Latest News

Exaltation at Chapter of St George, 3158 December 2021

The chapter was opened at just after 6:30 by E Comp Kenneth Clarke, MEZ and the items on the Agenda were worked through. E Comp Simon Johnson was invested as Assistant Director of Ceremonies as he was absent from previous meeting and Comp Barry Renwick was thanked for continuing as Guest Organist.

The main event of the evening was to Exalt Bro Ed Richings, a member of Vivary Lodge, no 8654, meeting in Taunton. Ed is a former Royal Navy Warrant Officer and served 30 years in the Service. The ceremony was undertaken in the Chapter of St George tradition, ie, MEZ and the Principal Sojourner doing all the work. E comp Kenneth was word perfect and delivered the ritual with such feeling. The Principal Sojourner, Mike Marshall, who was also Ed’s proposer, was excellent but needed some prompts as he had so much ritual to deliver.

The Almoner’s report was given by Rod Green which showed that the Chapter companions are keeping reasonably healthy. There was no other business that couldn’t be taken under the risings and that chapter was closed and the companions moved to the dining room for Pate, Roast Lamb and a selection of puddings.

The toast to Comp Ed Richings was given by Comp Mike Marshall, E Comp John Rudge, Chapter DC, gave an explanation of the Fire, before the Toast to Ed was given. The toast to the Visitors, of which there were eleven, was responded to by E Comp Charlie Barker.
